Goldie E. Melvin, 98, of Parkersburg passed away December 9, 2013 at Ohio Valley Health Care.
She was born in Cairo, WV November 20, 1915 a daughter of the late Lewis and Ethel Cokeley Melvin.
Goldie had worked for the American Viscose and retired from the Union Trust National Bank where she was a teller and had worked at the bank for over twenty five years.
She was a longtime member of the Seventy Street United Methodist Church for over seventy four years. She had served as treasurer, was active with the adult choir, United Methodist Women and Fellowship Class. She had also served as a volunteer with the former Camden Clark Memorial Hospital and with the Wood County Senior Citizens.
Surviving Goldie are her nephews Melvin Smith and wife Shirley, Randall Smith and wife Shirley, niece Marilyn Geary Perry and husband Bill, all of Parkersburg, seven great nieces and nephews, seventeen great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Goldie was preceded in death by her sister Blanche Smith and her husband H. Blaine Smith.
The funeral service will be at 11 am Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Rev. Kathryn A. Ambler officiating. Burial will be at the Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 on Thursday and for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
